Multimedia - lesson 2 / September 16th

Istanbul - People were able to control the temperature inside of Hagia Sophia which is new technology compared to the other architecture we have looked at. It is a Gothic church with two levels, this means that people are being organized into gender and class. Turkeys Whirling Dervishes ritual is a ceremony where Muslims give praise to Allah by spinning in up to 2,000 circles keeping one hand to the sky and one to the ground. Basilica of St Denis

Gothic Cathedral must have a rose window, stained glass windows, and a relic. Choirs of young boys would produce the celestial sound of heaven before their voices changed. The church was used for religious and entertainment purposes. There were business meetings, town meetings, and money exchanged. This was the entertainment of the day for the wealthy. This went on from the twelfth century to the sixteenth century.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame was written to save the church when others wanted to tear it down.

Catholic pilgrimages would gather and walk from Northern France and travel many miles to Western Spain. These were used to convert people and the most popular was to the church build upon the resting place of Saint James. It was on these pilgrimages that the first scene of heaven and hell was introduced to the pagans.

St Peter's Bascilla was originally the resting site for apostle Peter who was martyred.

Benedict the sixteenth transformed a church in Barcelona Spain into a basilica.

Antoni Gaudi was an incredible architect who was a "century above his time". He wanted to build a magnificent church but knew that it wouldn't be completed in his time - so he built models so that future architects could finish the job for him.

Czech Republic - protestant theatre (Baroque Theatre). Like the Roman Colosseum but much more sophisticated. It also has pulleys and elevator like gadgets. Lots of elegant music was played here and only the wealthy were able to attend.

XEROX

This box is representative of my childhood and how I sometimes wish to return to it. I included a colorful background mimicking my favorite game as a kid - candy land. On all sides, I put xerox pictuers of me reaching towards the top of the box (the sweet stuff), because that is what I miss most about being a kid. I also made 2 trees on one side because I have two trees in the front yard of my childhood home. The music I put to the background of the video is of a child laughing, because I remember laughing a lot when I was a kid playing games with my family.

11/18 recap

Today we learned about stimulations and asked ourselves if we believe that our world is a simulation. We watched video installation videos about virtual reality. This relates to me because my brother is really into virtual reality and studies it at his university. Nowadays, there a lot of ways that people can interact with virtual reality including headsets, glasses, and games. We related this to fake news and the future of the fact. We discussed robots and how they are being integrated into the work force. We looked at a Google Ad for the Tilt Brush.
