DAY 7 RECAP

We looked at Le Voyage Dans la lune from 1902 and it is very different that science fiction films that I see in today's age. I think of shows like Black Mirror when I think current science fiction and that show is extremely technologically advanced. The video we looked at reminds me of something my dad would watch. Sampling is sacrificing some of the components so that the brain fills in the blank.
The first television looked extremely different than what televisions look like today. When television first came out, people were afraid that it was a way that the BBC was spying on them and that it would damage their eyeballs. We then looked at the invention of the telegraph and teleprinter which led to pin-up girls and porn.
Automatons were clocks in the 1700s accompanied by music and mechanisms that drew contours from all over to meet the creators. They were constructed elegantly and some were even interactive (a foretaste of the computer).
Multimedia today is influenced heavily by the computer. Hypermedia is an extension of what is known as hypertext or the ability to open new links on the text. This allows you to get the information that you are seeking. It is another word for everything that we interact with on the web.

XEROX

This box is representative of my childhood and how I sometimes wish to return to it. I included a colorful background mimicking my favorite game as a kid - candy land. On all sides, I put xerox pictuers of me reaching towards the top of the box (the sweet stuff), because that is what I miss most about being a kid. I also made 2 trees on one side because I have two trees in the front yard of my childhood home. The music I put to the background of the video is of a child laughing, because I remember laughing a lot when I was a kid playing games with my family.

11/18 recap

Today we learned about stimulations and asked ourselves if we believe that our world is a simulation. We watched video installation videos about virtual reality. This relates to me because my brother is really into virtual reality and studies it at his university. Nowadays, there a lot of ways that people can interact with virtual reality including headsets, glasses, and games. We related this to fake news and the future of the fact. We discussed robots and how they are being integrated into the work force. We looked at a Google Ad for the Tilt Brush.
